Frenkie de Jong is now persuaded that his future lies outside of Barcelona and is interested in joining Manchester United.
The Spaniards have placed the Dutchman up for sale in order to reduce their exorbitant levels of annual debt.
De Jong, 25, first informed the board that he did not want to leave Camp Nou and believed he was already at his "ideal" club.
Despite the presence of Erik ten Hag, De Jong's initial reaction to Manchester United's interest was not particularly encouraging, as he would like to play for a team in the Champions League if he is forced out of the club.

However, Sport claims that De Jong has changed his mind and is no longer opposed to leaving Barcelona.
The former Ajax midfielder is said to be delighted about the idea of playing in his preferred position again under Ten Hag and having the team structured around him at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to reports, a deal is already in its 'decisive phase,' although Barcelona is holding out for a sum of roughly £86 million for De Jong.
That is substantially more than United is ready to pay, with the club valuing De Jong at over £60 million.
United are yet to add to their roster this summer, although rivals Liverpool and Manchester City have recruited Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland, respectively.
