The distance between U23 football and the first team in the Premier League is growing bigger with each season, therefore most players will need to go on loan to further develop their game.
That is especially true at Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta cannot afford to load the senior team with kids because he needs results, and there is also some strong rivalry for attacking positions.
As a result, Nikolaj Moller was unlikely to see any meaningful playing time this season, and this loan move should provide him with the ideal opportunity to demonstrate what he can do at a high level with Viktoria Koln in Germany's third division.

The 19-year-old Swedish striker has been dubbed "the next Zlatan" due to his country and height of 194cm, but he appears to have a bright future in the game after playing for the U23 side last season.
There is no mention of a buy option, so the expectation is that he scores a lot of goals and returns next summer ready to compete for a senior spot, and it will be interesting to observe his growth during the season.
