Done Deal: Arsenal confirm the departure of 26 year-old on a season-long loan

Sometimes a player can simply stay at a club for far longer than anyone realizes, and this could be the case with Arsenal goalie Dejan Iliev.

The North Macedonian goalkeeper has been with the club since 2012, but he's never looked like breaking into the first squad, and he's never even played in cup competition as a senior.

He's also 26 years old, so it's surprising he's still under contract with the Gunners, but he won't be available as a goalkeeping option next season after his loan departure was confirmed:

He's an intriguing player because he appears to have been a captain for the U23 side in recent years as an overage player, yet he'll now spend next season in Slovakia with SKF Sered, returning to similar settings after spending time there in the 2019/20 season.

It's difficult to imagine him performing enough on loan to earn a shot with Arsenal, but he might place himself on the market for a future transfer.
