The Super League's demise was widely celebrated throughout Europe, and former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may have taken some joy in it as well.
Arsene Wenger, the former Arsenal manager, has responded to Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward and the Super League's plans.
The six Premier League clubs involved, including Arsenal, withdrew from the Super League proposals on Tuesday night, just 48 hours after they were revealed.
Arsenal has apologized for their role in the project, but demands for owner Stan Kroenke to resign have persisted, although Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward has declared his departure at the end of the season.
With Manchester United owner Joel Glazer set to become the vice-president of The Super League, behind Florentino Perez, Woodward was a driving force behind the project.

That will no longer be the case, with all but Barcelona and Real Madrid withdrawing from the competition in the face of widespread criticism and protests from fans.
And Woodward has paid the ultimate price, resigning after making the 'biggest mistake of his career,' according to reports.
However, FIFA President and former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not sympathetic, criticizing the poorly put-together strategy and even laughing at The Super League's expense.
He told BeIn Sports, 'Well, I would guess he realized the project was not well planned, and I don't know what Woodward would do.'
However, if you try to build a Super League of two groups of ten teams and only have 12, knowing you'll lose any, (laughs) your project isn't very solid.'
DON'T MISS:
Woodward may not be the last executive to abandon the Super League project, with many club owners and executives facing harsh criticism even after abandoning the plans.
There have been demands for Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, Manchester United's Glazer family, and Liverpool's owners FSG to step on, with some fans of those clubs calling on them to do so.

Especially for Arsenal, kroenke don't know what football is all about, he thought it was only a milking cow. Arsenal has been in a downgrade mood since kroenke came to Arsenal, before him Arsenal were top top team in England in if not in the world. It's time to say bye to kroenke and Kse forever. #kroenkeout
