The suspended Ajax goalkeeper was supposed to join Lyon for £5 million but has apparently changed his mind, with the Cameroonian putting the plug on a deal owing to the possibility of a greater move.
Andre Onana, the goalkeeper from Ajax, is said to have backed out of his deal to Olympique Lyon due to interest from "larger" clubs.
Earlier this summer, the 25-year-old Cameroonian international was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal being the frontrunner to capture him.
The Gunners appeared to let off their pursuit before French club Lyon became an almost-certain destination for Onana, having struck an agreement with the player and a cost of £5 million with Ajax.

However, according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the player has walked away from the deal in the hopes of joining a better club this summer.
Onana has been out of action owing to a doping ban that prevents him from training until September 3 and from competing until November 3.
His exceptional technical ability on the ball, which he honed as a member of Barcelona's junior system, makes him well-suited to the modern game.
Several clubs have indicated an interest in the Cameroonian as they want a goalkeeper who can play out from the back.
Inter Milan appears to be among those interested, and the club is thought to be in pole position to sign the Ajax player.
There is no guarantee that Inter was the club that influenced his decision, but the current events back up previous reports by Italian outlets that Onana had previously ‘gave his word' to join Inter next January.
Meanwhile, despite previous ties with Onana and Sheffield United's Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal has failed to sign a backup goalkeeper.
While Onana would provide much-needed competition for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Mikel Arteta is still aggressively attempting to sign him.
