Arsenal is said to be 'interested in Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, who is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

For several months, the Portugal international has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions' home after reportedly becoming dissatisfied with his lifestyle in Manchester.

While he has been a huge success on the field, garnering the affection and support of the whole Manchester City supporters, it is said that incidents off the field have caused the former AS Monaco man to grow unsettled, particularly the incident with a tweet and teammate Benjamin Mendy.

Several clubs, primarily from Spain and La Liga, have been associated with an interest in the 26-year-old, but a fresh name has arisen via a social media rumor this week, and a name considerably closer to his current home.

Arsenal is 'interested in signing Bernardo Silva this summer, according to Transferchecker - yeah, you read it correctly.

It is also reported that the three-time Premier League winner had his heart set on a move to Barcelona this summer, but such a deal is now deemed 'impossible,' owing to the Camp Nou club's catastrophic financial circumstances.

According to Manchester City, as has been reported elsewhere in recent weeks, the Premier League champions need to sell a "high-profile attacker" in order to complete the acquisitions of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.

In addition to Arsenal, as reported by several sites around Europe and in England, La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid have been 'alerted' to Bernardo Silva's availability and have expressed an interest.

Any move to Arsenal appears exceedingly improbable.

Despite his previous working connection with Mikel Arteta, going to a less competitive Premier League squad would make little to no sense for a player at the pinnacle of his career.

Bernardo Silva is also looking for a completely new lifestyle shift and better weather conditions, so relocation to London does not fit that profile at all - which is why any move this summer would most likely be to Spain or Italy.

That being said, the scenario around the Portugal international is evolving, and it is one to keep a watch on for the duration of the summer transfer window, as Manchester City also pursues Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.
