Alexandre Lacazette is a target for Stade Rennais in the window, as the French club look to bring in experienced reinforcements to help them in the Europa League next campaign. The 31-year-old centre-forward is on the verge of leaving Arsenal on a free transfer as his deal expires this month.
A period of great expectation is about to come to a disappointing end for France international, as he will likely quit the Gunners at the end of the current month. Arsenal are unlikely to offer the French striker a new deal, and he could look for a new adventure in the transfer window.
The Frenchman joined the Gunners in 2017 for a then club-record fee and was expected to play a crucial role in their future. Compared to his prolific time with Lyon, Lacazette has seemingly disappointed with his returns for Arsenal, having registered only 71 goals from 206 games in all tournaments.
Alexandre also has 36 assists to his name, but overall, his time at Arsenal has been disappointing. The Spanish manager was expected to try and prolong the former Lyon centre-forward’s stint at the club beyond the summer after some fantastic displays since Aubameyang’s departure in winter, although it now looks unlikely.
Alexandre’s former club Lyon had shown interest earlier in the year, although they have gone quiet on their pursuit. Stade Rennais are reportedly interested in a move for Lacazette, as they feel the centre-forward could add value to their ambitions in the short term.
